Studies related Anonymous writes "A Ph.D. studentship position is available immediately for a period of 3 years in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland,UK. Only British or E.U. students are eligible for this post.

The project will investigate the effectiveness of virtual reality and haptic interfaces to a range of manufacturing and assembly tasks during the process planning of miniature products. This is an area of considerable current interest to both users and developers of CAD/CAM systems, particularly with regard to reducing physical product prototyping costs and product lead times. The successful candidate will be part of the MIcroSystems Engineering Centre (MISEC) and of the Scottish Manufacturing Institute (SMI), the only Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre in Scotland funded by the EPSRC.

Candidates must have a qualification in computer science or software engineering and be able to programme in C++ or Java. The candidate will take part in a course in Microsystems engineering.
