Pipex and NDO are doing cheapish deals around about nowish - have a look at them.Or, if you're feeling like a feel-good factor too, then GreenISP do a decent price, and plug all their profits into environmentally friendly energy schemes and other 'ethical' concerns. (The only financial difference between them and NDO and PIPX is a sign-up fee, the monthly cost is identical) - and that sign-up fee isn't lining someones pocket either!
Enjoy |

| Pipex is cheap but in the end when u chenge house or whatever they dont let you keep your email. BT and Telewest let you keep it for life. |

freedom2surf are pretty good, price wise they are about the middle. But you also get free webhosting, which is nice |

oh, i didn't know that.
Telewest is good if you're going for a phone/tv/broadband package, if you can get it. |

we've been on telewest for a while
they're good. we get the 1.5Mbps package. So fast at downloading, shame the upload aint too great (just as good as anywhere else though). no real complaints _________________

What's Telewest price-wise?
My flat's got loads of telewest plugs here and there - so obviously a previous tenant set it up. How much does it all cost - put together? (Ball park figure would do fine ) |

our telewest package is just under £50 + calls /month for the 2nd fastest internet (1.5mbps). That also includes line rental and the basic cable package. For £10 less you could get a slower net package which would still be faster than most ADSL! They also do other, slower packages too. best to check the site.

Telewest here...
I get the cable, phone, 768/256 internet all for £40. Works like a charm, and the service has never gone down to my knowledge. Also it is totally dial up free, rather than adsl which is pretend dial up free, as you still have to log in. Duh!
May get the 1.5mbps line just for the wee bit more upload.
Recommend it 100% |

if you buy a decent, always-on router for ADSL you'll not have to keep logging on.
I wish my upload was faster too. Are you sure your upload is 256kbps? That's what i get afaik. _________________

i'm surprised that it's only 256, for a 1M (plus 50% free) connection I would have expected 512.
logging on with ADSL has never been a problem, i connected as long as my router is on. |

I think they keep the upload low so you don't run a web server from home.
not too useful for bit torrent, if anyone uses that? _________________

Mostly get my stuff from ftp dumps, but bit torrent does the job. Especially closed groups who only let you download if you've got a good share ratio. (of course I'm talking about totally legal shareware, demos, and free release music here)
The upload still sucks though. People with 512kbps adsl get 256 u/l, why shouldn't we? Bah... What's the upload on a 1mbps adsl line? If it's 512 I may just cry...
