I had a major HD crash a week ago so i had to format. Before i installed the antivirur i had to connect to the net to download the windows upgrades. Guess what. Exept fighting with sasser and blaster for maybe 30-60 mins, after finally installing the antivirus i found 972 files infected Confused . And all that only by just surfing. Anyway some friends advised me to use NOD32 as the best antivirus on the market. Till now i used Norton and exept the fact that it eats a lot of resources and my pc acts like a pentium 1 when it scans the disc, the rest is fine. They say nod32 is the best. I need some more opinions before i uninstall norton and experiment. Any suggestions Question

Billy,

NOD32 has a very small footprint. It uses very very few system resources and has the fastest scanning of any AntiVirus software (about half the time of the next fastest I believe)

Guess which AV I use? Yup, NOD32. However, NOD32 is only... and I say ONLY, an anti vrius scanner. It isn't the best trojan destroyer on it's own. For this you should get a standalone Trojan hunter. A layered system will protect you best, and a firewall is essential.

I run:-
Tds-3 (A trojan hunter/destroyer)
NOD32 (The best anti virus)
AVG (A second anti virus scanner as a backup/checker)
Ad-Aware 6 (Kills spyware etc)
Zone Alarm (Firewall)
Spybot - Search and Destroy (Fixes loopholes in your system and stops spyware)
ProtoWall (An IP blocker, stops known hackers/companies checking your system)

I have my PC turned on 24 hours a day, and have most of the above stuff set to auto run at 5am. Therfore it never disturbs me. However, I have Zone Alarm, Protowall and NOD32 running 100% of the time. Half the reason for my choices of these programs is because they are in no way system hogs. You won't even notice a difference, which u would if you were running Norton.

There are either free cut down versions of the above programs available, or at least 30 day trials so you can try them out.

on my windows machine I use AVG, quite possible one of the best windows virus checkers. The other option is of course to just install linux Smile
