Does anyone else get line drops when using progs such as Emule or Bittorent?

The only solution is a modem reset. Turn off, and back on malarky.

I have spoken to Telewest about this and they claimed a fault with the line. Got everything replaced, even asked for a firmware upgrade but still the same. I've even moved flats and still get the same problem. From what I can gather it's an issue with the number of connections I get, and I get red flagged by the telewest server as someone trying to uncap the line... It's easy to prevent by limiting the connections, and using NetLimiter, but still dam frustrating. I want ten files downloading at the same time, not be limited to 3 or 4.

Just curious if anyone else ever has this issue?

Not exactly the same problem but we had serious problems for a period when my flatmate was using bittorrent. After a while, everything would grind to a halt, and although we have a 3meg line, it would perform worse than a 56k modem. He would be downloading with say 25k/s or something equally silly and that was it. For the whole 3 meg line!!!

Needless to say, as soon as we found what the problem was, bittorrent was uninstalled and banished to cyberhell never to be installed on one of our machines again... Very Happy

I have friends who complain about their telewest line going down (and requiring a modem reboot), they say mostly while downloading stuff, maybe a way of telewest stopping people using lots of bandwidth for a long time? I have ADSL rather than cable so don't know?!?!

we've very rarely had problems like this with our cable and i've never put it breaking down to too many connections but I dunno if i've really that many connections open at any one time.
